Victorinox takes over the peeler manufacturer Zena Swiss AG

The world-famous pocket knives from Victorinox are given a counterpart for home use. With the acquisition of Zena Swiss AG, the manufacturer of the popular peelers, Victorinox strengthens its "household knives" product line.

Zena Swiss AG is a Swiss family-owned company based in Affoltern am Albis in the canton of Zurich. Zena is considered the developer of the well-known REX Peeler and has specia-lized in its production since 1947. The original REX Peeler is sold up to one million times a year worldwide. Victorinox also already has it in its range. It has a timeless modern design and impresses with its simple construction, precise manufacturing and perfect ergonomics. Just like the Victorinox pocket knives, the Zena peelers are also a popular advertising medium and have a firm place in the ranking of cult and design objects.

The company was offered to Victorinox as part of a succession plan. The purchase agre-ement was signed and executed in mid-September, and Victorinox AG is now the 100% owner of Zena Swiss AG. It was agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Victorinox has more than 135 years of experience in the production of high quality knives. The various products from Zena optimally complement the existing Victorinox product portfolio. The current production volume of more than two million pieces as well as semi-finished products such as peeling blades for other brands in Germany and abroad offers worldwide growth potential for Victorinox AG.

Quoting Peter Newec, CEO Zena Swiss AG: "I am delighted that our family business is in good hands with Victorinox and that the continued existence of the well-known and popular Zena Peeler is thus guaranteed".

Quote Carl Elsener, CEO Victorinox AG: "This investment will enable us to enrich our strategic "household knives" division with interesting products and to move forward with courage and entrepreneurial spirit even in these unusual times".
